SHOWDOWN 2011 IS BACK!

It’s time again to discover the hottest street dancers in Malaysia!

Petaling Jaya, 1 April 2011 – Malaysia’s most distinguished dance show that is designed to shed light on the street dance culture, is back for its second season! That’s right! Once again, the nations’ most eminent dancers from all around the country will battle it out for dance supremacy in SHOWDOWN 2011 !

SHOWDOWN has proved to not be your ordinary dance reality show. Since its inception, it has attracted a huge following and has since grown into a culture, a trend – a brand! This is testified by the huge fan base, international recognitions and the multiple awards the show has picked up, including Favourite TV Programme at the Shout! Awards 2010, Best Reality Show at Anugerah Skrin 2010 and Best Reality TV Programe at Anugerah Sri Angkasa 2010. With aims to bring street dance out of the shadows and into the limelight, while giving it the respect and attention it deserves, this second season of SHOWDOWN is promised to once again provide viewers with enough drama and exciting twists to get them hooked every week.

SHOWDOWN 2011 received astounding response when hundreds of aspiring dance crews swarmed the auditions that were held across the country. Catch the countless turns, fiery jumps, isolation of body parts, a stage full of flips and crazy head spins, and be the first to know who the judges have picked as the most outstanding crews and who will compete in the next level as SHOWDOWN 2011 premieres on Wednesday, 6th of April 2011 at 9.30pm, exclusively on 8TV.

“SHOWDOWN 2011 is back to find Malaysia’s best street dance crew! Due to the overwhelming response SHOWDOWN 2010 has received, we at 8TV vouch to bring you a second season that is bigger, better and more exciting.” says Group General Manager of 8TV & ntv7, Ms. Airin Zainul. Airin adds “Viewers will have to get ready to hold on to the edge of their seats as the “underdogs” and the “hot faves” take on each other in the battles and stand an equal shot at winning.”
SHOWDOWN 2011 welcomes back its reputed host Hafiz Hatim along with its star studded judge panel made up of award-winning rapper/album producer Joe Flizzow of Too Phat and renowned dancer/choreographer Maple Loo.

SHOWDOWN 2011 is presented by Hotlink and partner Sony, together with returning partner Vitagen and Official Hotel Tune Hotels. The programme is also supported by Official hair and make up Snips and Office Make Up, media partners FlyFM, HotFM and Just DANCE! Magazine, Malaysia’s 1st Dance Magazine.

This year, online interactivity and content will also be taken to another level. SHOWDOWN 2011 fans will be able to access vast content and information as well as go social on SHOWDOWN 2011’s microsite http://www.8tv.com.my/showdown/2011/ . What’s new and great about the site this year? Not only will viewers get to know your favourite Top 12 Dance Crew better, you can also have access to video dance tips by experts (from the likes of Byron Carter and BBoy China from Thailand), LIKE your favourite Dance Crew Facebook pages, see our extensive Video Gallery (Not Seen on TV, 2010 recaps, full episodes and diaries) and Photo Gallery (Auditions, Meltdowns & Episodic) and so much more.
