Even sessions with therapists were not at all helping her. Determined to change her life and face her fears, she decides that in order to help herself, she would have to help others first. As a result, she joins the training of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) by the Grafton Volunteer Fire Department, with the encouragement of her husband Michael. Things become rough when colleagues comment on how strange it was for a woman who was emotionally shaky and always terrified to take up such a profession. Both hilarious and poignant, this true story tells of how one woman lifted herself out of a deep depression, gaining the acceptance of the Georgetown firemen and her fellow EMT’s. An unusual account of a brave woman’s determination, to face her fears and bring out the best in herself against all odds.
