Dubbed as the best dance crew competition in the history of Malaysian television programming, Showdown 2010 is indeed, in a class of its own.
The hip and fun show is all about taking dancing from the streets (no pun, intended!). Street dance is a flexible form of dance that enables each crew to freestyle according to their own pace. Like any other dance genre, street dance is vastly considered as a form of art.
With Showdown 2010 the producers aim to bring forth the idea that street dancing deserves more respect and attention from the public.
Another unique feature of Showdown 2010 is that viewers will get to experience behind-the-scenes footages where the real action begins! From coming up with original dance routines to performing in front of a live audience, Showdown 2010 will provide enough drama and exciting twists that will get the viewers hooked every week. Besides that, electrifying hip-hop and fusion dance styles along with professional training and off-the-edge challenges will also be thrown into the mix to make Showdown 2010 a tv hit!
“Showdown 2010 is all about searching the best street dance crew to enliven the dance scene in Malaysia. Our local hip hop and street dance scene has grown by leaps and bounds.” says 8TV’s General Manager, Ms. Lam Swee Kim.
Kim adds: “I believe that dance talents are in abundance and Showdown 2010 is tailored to unearth them in the most positive approach as well as providing the right platform for them to showcase their talent”
“The auditions will determine the best contestants around the country. We are not just looking for a winner of the competition but the ultimate dance crew.” says Kim.
8TV is confident that audiences will find the show interesting as the “underdogs” and the “hot faves” have an equal shot at winning the show.
Like all reality shows, Showdown 2010 kicks off with a series of auditions which will take place at five venues in Johor Bahru, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur starting January 2010.
