‘PAK PANDIR THE MUSICAL’ WITH THE PPAG AT DEWAN FILHARMONIK PETRONAS!
The PETRONAS Performing Arts Group (PPAG) is pleased to present two hilarious showcases entitled ‘Pak Pandir The Musical’ on Wednesday, 17 June 09 and Thursday, 18 June 09 at 8.30 p.m. at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP), KLCC.
In its ongoing efforts to nurture the interest in popular Malay folktales, the PPAG chose to present the story of Pak Pandir as a social contribution to preserve our traditional legacy. It is hoped that through these presentations, the younger generation can learn from the moral values hidden behind this story.
‘Pak Pandir The Musical’, to be produced by the Director of PPAG, Hartini Hj Abdullah, is a folktale presented with songs and music blended with elements of comedy and moral. The episodes in these showcases are injected with a fresh representation of the folktale to make it relevant in today’s lives.
This musical will also witness the artistry of the PPAG talents in music, drama and dance, a fresh combination that will enthrall the audience.
‘Pak Pandir The Musical’ narrates the story of a poor couple who live in a village. Pandir is a one-dimensional and stupid character. His stupidity is reflected in his daily chores, all resulting in disasters. This upsets his wife, Andeh, and it reaches the climax when he unintentionally kills his baby by putting him in a hot bath.
The showcases will be helmed by director/scriptwriter Zahari Hamzah, music director Ahmad Muriz Che Rose, dance director A Sam Palal and choreographer Rozilah Abdul Rahman.
Do not miss the brilliant virtuosity of the PPAG, only at DFP! The combined elements of dances, songs and comic will be a delightful musical treat for arts lovers.
