The Malaysian entertainment scene has witnessed a great explosion over the past few years - creating opportunities to expand the already established and developing new platforms to fuel the thirst of the independent.
It is time to highlight the journey of these rising Malaysian talents. Hence, the birth of the .
The was created to give recognition to those who have made great impact and creative breakthroughs in Malaysian music, film, TV and radio. It is a 2.5 hour TV special and the first-of-its-kind awards show for these four industries, aiming to reward the most-deserving artists, actors, radio and TV faces.
It’s also a platform for the fans to voice out their definition of the new cool in the entertainment scene.
“Music has never been more innovative and brave. Radio stations have morphed into daring anchors championing new trends and new music styles. Films are exploring new depths in techniques, writing, and human emotion. Television is reaching new realms in drama and entertainment, influential in its ability to create instant celebrities, some going on to be real and credible superstars,” said 8TV’s Chief Executive Officer, Encik Ahmad Izham Omar
Izham added, “We at 8TV have always been proud of the many creative breakthroughs that have come out from the entertainment scene. The Shout! Awards is a great way to recognize the efforts of these great talents, with the hope of pushing Malaysian arts to always come up with something new, something exciting and something that will continually take our breaths away.”
The will be held on the 18th of July 2009 at Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil. This fresh award show will also be aired LIVE on 8TV at 9.00pm, starting off with the red carpet arrival of celebrities, artists and personas of the entertainment industry.
It will feature awards for the best in the local entertainment arena (TV, Film, Radio & Music) and will also feature outstanding and mind-blowing performances by local artistes and bands through exciting collaborations.
The is open to TV Networks, Record Labels, Radio Networks and Production Companies to send in their nominations for their respective works and talents.
There are four (4) categories altogether, with 16 awards to be awarded.

All nominations submitted will be determined by an independent panel of judges consisting of tastemakers and experts representing the broadcast, music and film industry.
The Top 5 nominees will be then made public and viewers will be invited to send in their votes for their favorite nominations of each category via online voting at the ’s official website (www.shoutawards.com.my).
From the Top 5 nominees of all the categories, the judges will select the winner of The Ultimate Shout! Award, the ultimate star.
The public should lookout for roadshows that will be held in conjunction with the fever frenzy, featuring local artistes and also a chance for them to obtain tickets to attend the award show.
